What a year this one has been! 2020 was unlike anything we could have ever imagined. And even though this year is coming to an end, the challenges we faced still go on — from the biggest, the COVID‑19 pandemic, to the climate and economical crises, to name a few.
What will 2021 bring us? We don't know, what we do actually know is that people are resilient and only by coming together we can build a safer future for all of us.
At QRILL Pet, we became in experts in digitally communicating the benefits of krill for pets with all our customers and prospects, be it on video chats, online meetings or emails. We've switched to participating in online trade shows and conferences, we've launched a new website and a new partner portal. This year, technology has helped us be your partners in krill, as we like to call ourselves.
Here’s a look at what 2020 meant for us and how we've managed to stay connected with all of you.
Thomas Wærner won the legendary Iditarod race in 2020!
After competing for over 9 days with 57 professional dog teams and the unpredictable nature of Alaska, the QRILL Pet Mushing team member was the first to cross the finish line in Nome.
Thomas and his dogs are the first mushing team to ever win the Femund Race and Finnmark Race (two of the toughest dog sled races in Norway) in the same year and become the Iditarod Champion the following season. He is also the first overall winner of the QRILL Pet Arctic World Series, a concept that has followed some of the greatest long distance dog mushing races around the world.
New QRILL Pet AstaOmega Oil
We've launched a new product called QRILL Pet AstaOmega Oil! The NEW AstaOmega Oil is the perfect supplement for pets, offering a natural combination of omega-3s and the powerful antioxidant astaxanthin, both derived from one unique source. Not only do pets get to enjoy the health benefits of these components, but pet owners can rest assured that their pets are benefiting from a sustainable and natural supplement.
We've published a new study
In a new study from Aker BioMarine, a team of scientists wanted to uncover the dietary effects of omega-3s delivered by Antarctic krill meal versus fish oil.
The subjects of the study were 20 Norway-bred, high-performance Alaskan Huskies, a breed of dog known for its athleticism, and their ability to sustain health and quickly recover after long-distance adventures, such as the world’s longest and toughest dog sled race, Iditarod. The conclusion? After six weeks, the results showed that while both groups experienced an increase in omega-3 fatty acids (and decrease in omega-6 fatty acids), the dogs consuming the krill meal diet had the greatest increase.
We've exhibited at PetFair Asia
Even though we couldn't be present in any of the trade shows in Europe or America (they were all canceled), our team in China was able to exhibit at this year's Petfair Asia in Shanghai and they had a blast! The event was a success and we couldn't be more proud of the outcome.
We've launched our first webinars
We were extremely happy and proud to launch the QRILL Pet Autumn Webinar Series. We wanted to take you on a journey through our QRILL Pet world and introduce you to our NEW Partner Portal, KRILL CONNECT, show you how to add QRILL Pet to you existing pet food formula and explain the differences between the various forms of omega-3s. And we think we succeeded in doing exactly that.
We finished the series with a QRILL PAWS webinar where we talked about what's next for the QRILL Pet Arctic World Series.
We've released a new Partner Portal
We have always wanted to be more than just a supplier of a krill-derived product, we wanted to be your partners in krill. And what better way to do that than by having all our marketing materials and projects in one place. If you, our customer, succeed and grow as a result of our support, then we have fulfilled our mission. With KRILL CONNECT we wanted to lend you our expertise, share our material and initiate collaboration projects.
We've attended PetXpert - a Virtual Nordic Pet Food Conference
We have chosen to attend and exhibit at this year's first virtual conference PetXpert held by the Nordic Pet Food Events. And we're so happy to say we've made the right call to join as sponsors because we got to share our knowledge and listen to many experts share theirs. All in all, this was a great event! We highly recommend it!
Our website got a new look
We finished this year with another great launch - a newly redesigned website for QRILL Pet! After many months of hard work, we were extremely thrilled to finally launch a faster, easier to navigate, and more user-friendly version of our website.
We're thankful for many things this year, we did accomplish so many despite all odds, but we do look forward to being able to actually meet with friends and family without wearing masks, to traveling to different corners of the planet so we can meet with partners, and to visiting events and trade shows in person.
Let's hope 2021 will bring all that and more!
